The place has a swimming pool, gorgeous view of the mountains from the upstairs patio/balcony, new appliances, new electrical, upgraded kitchen. Four blocks from the Eaton Canyon hiking area, and about a mile from the off-leash dog park.

And for my fellow Information Technology workers, all rooms are fully cat5 wired and gigE ready, from central, ventilated server room (the coat-closet under the stairs).

It's a peaceful, quiet neighborhood... no helicopters, search lights, and all the stuff that comes with downtown Los Angeles. We found it to be a nice break from the intensity of of medical training and starting up a business.

If you're a Google Maps user, check out the neighborhood (click here, http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=114041658695191030139.00045386863e1758da6e3&ll=34.159084,-118.087192&spn=0.015732,0.038624&z=15), from the Eaton Canyon nature area, Victory Park (baseball, football, soccer, picnics, special events, weekly farmers market), to the people and off-leash dog park. There are several golf courses nearby, plus a gym about 6 doors down.

Easy commute to CalTech, Fuller Seminary, USC undergrad, USC medical school, and USC residency hospitals.

Ah! I almost forgot about the Peacocks, the arboretum, and so much more... in case I left anything else out, I've included a link with HOUSE PHOTOS here (http://crockettdunn.blogspot.com/search/label/Pasadena%20House), from when we leased to our first tenants!

I only wish I had time to add a more comprehensive map and tag more of our secret Pasadena neighborhood attractions. I will leave it to you to search for Hollywood, the Staples Center, and all of the non-secret great stuff that comes with living in the LA Metro area.

goodbye pasadena, or "peace I'm out"

Man, there is nothing left in our house- I mean, "our old house," except for echoes and dust bunnies, so it's time for me to hit the road and head up to Salinas.

Old Neighborhood:

Goodbye Los Angeles,

Goodbye Pasadena,

I will miss you, but I promise to visit and email often.

New neighborhood:

Oh Salinas.... you are so rural, you salad bowl of the nation you...

with your clean air, sunshine, and views

I look forward to more mellow than I'm used to.

Things in common between Salinas and Pasadena:
1) horse stables < 1 mile from home
2) gorgeous view of the mountains
3) current or former Crockett place of residence (1 or 0 Crocketts there)

Peace I'm outta here!

Did I mention we put our house on the market? In Pasadena, Los Angeles?

I may have forgotten to add that of all the homes for sale in Pasadena, this one is totally the best. And I'm not just saying that because I'd rather not pay two mortgages, either. I can say from the bottom of my heart, this is my favorite Pasadena house, only partially because it is mine.

Let me see if I can find some links and pictures.

Amenities:

Walking distance: Victory Park. A short drive or long walk away is the Alice Frost Kennedy Off-Leash Dog Park, which brings much joy to the world.

Concerned about having enough space for your younger, littler family members?
Worry not:

"But Crockett," you ask... "What about the sunshine? We need much sunshine!"
Well sunshine you shall have:

"But Crockett," you plead... "I can only ingest food if there is an awesome view of mountains and available." Ask and you shall receive:

And I'm not even kidding- we occasionally get visiting Peacocks that the natives tell me come from the Santa Anita Los Angeles Arboretum (which is just a short drive away). This one (below) seems to like fancy cars. Found it lounging on Analisa's BMW one day.

One of these fellas was kind enough to shed his feathers in our yard. Now our cats get to play with REAL peacock feathers. That is cat luxury.

Walking distance from Eaton Canyon Natural Area, from where one can hike to Eaton Falls or if you have a few hours, all the way up to Henniger Flats. If you're looking for a multi-day adventure, continue on all the way to Mount Wilson:

"Well Hey We're Moving on Up," part II

Who wants it? We're vacating our house in North East Pasadena (Valencia Avenue, New York, Craig Street- 91104 area). Pasadena, home of the Rose Bowl, is a pleasant, quiet area, just outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown Los Angeles, California.

My Architect sister says, "I really love the colors, especially upstairs with the violet in that dormer- it feels like a little hideaway in the sky."

Here is an OK view showing the balcony (great for candle-lit dinners with a view of the mountains) and swimming pool:

Speaking of the view, look what's just down the road, dog-walking distance from our front-door:

Yes, that is wide open, protected, national forest space, right outside of Los Angeles!

For those of you who share the Crock-Town values and priorities, the house has cables pulled from the under-stairs closet to the downstairs office/bedroom, other downstairs office/bedroom) upstairs office/bedroom, and TV area. The closet under the stairs makes a great, discreet server room.

Well hey we're moving on up! (House for sale in North East Pasadena)

Hey if you have been following my personal life as closely as I have, then you already know that Analisa and I will be moving up to northern California soon. In case you have not been stalking or otherwise studying me, here is what I wanted to share: We will be listing our lovely house (Valencia Avenue, Pasadena, CA) starting next week. It's walking distance from the Eaton Canyon hiking area.

Here is a bird's-eye view from on MSN maps.

The past few weeks have been a blur of spackling, sanding, taping, and painting.

I need a sandwich.
